The training and certification include the following four lessons and domains:
  • Introduction to Healthcare IT:
    This includes an overview of healthcare informatics, its hardware, software architecture and components. Eletronic Medical Records and their interaction are shown as well as the Meaningful use of these records as required by the US federal government for Medicare and Medicaid patients.
  • Requirements and pre-conditions to implementation:
    This section includes the planning process to implement a system, regulatory requirements such as coding, and data migration and retention rules when converting an existing system.
  • Scanning technology:
    This lesson allows a student to understand the technology used for the conversion so that he or she can properly select the right equipment, configure it to meet the particular business needs, and become knowledgeable about troubleshooting basic issues with the device.
  • Workflow:
    This lesson explains all the steps in detail that are involved with converting the documents in electronic format. Different workflows such as batch scanning in different settings such as workgroups, departmental, and production environment are shown.
Exam Details
The CHDMA certification exam consist of 80 multiple choice questions and have a 60 minute time limit. The exam requires a minimum 70% score for passing. Upon failing, a candidate can take the exam one more time within 6 months at no additional charge. If the candidate does not pass on the second try, he/she must purchase a 2nd approval to try again, but he/she may only take the exam a maximum of 3 times within 12 months. The exam questions will be selected randomly from a pool of questions, therefore providing always unique, different questions for each student and/or exam try.
